What's the Story?

P.E.T.S. Low Cost Spay and Neuter Clinic was recently awarded a $50,000 grant to fund a satellite expansion program at the Young County Humane Society in Graham, TX.

P.E.T.S. was formed in April 2007 to combat the overpopulation of unwanted pets in Wichita Falls, TX and surrounding communities.  The organization has chosen Graham as the location for their first satellite clinic due to the long-standing relationship they have with animal advocates in the area. A satellite clinic will enable pet owners in Graham, and the surrounding communities, easy access to affordable spay/neuter and preventative care.

“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to replicate the success we have seen in Wichita Falls in Young County. Accessible and affordable spays/neuters prevents unwanted litters and decreases pet overpopulation. This satellite clinic will change the landscape of Animal Welfare within Young County,” said Leslie Harrelson, president and CEO of the P.E.T.S. Low Cost Spay and Neuter Clinic.

The immediate goal is to decrease pet overpopulation in the county and see an intake decrease of at least 10 percent annually at the Young County Humane Society. The partnership between Young County Humane Society and P.E.T.S. will also save the county shelter valuable resources and allow them to help more animals

“The WaterShed Animal Fund is dedicated to supporting animal welfare organizations that invest in rural communities and provide affordable access to veterinary services,” said Christy Counts, president of the WaterShed Animal Fund.
